A More Progressive Approach to Legal Representation

Man arrested on suspicion of violent crimes involving a child

When a person is arrested on accusations of criminal conduct in Tennessee, there are a variety of penalties and reactions that the allegations could potentially lead to. For example, violent crimes will inevitably be seen in a more negative light. This is especially true when the allegations involve abuse or rape of a child. With that in mind, those who are accused and arrested must make certain that they understand what they are facing and take steps to mount a defense as soon as possible.

A man was arrested after he was accused of hitting an 11-year-old girl with an SUV, sexually assaulting her and then leaving her in a ditch by the road. The girl was said to be on her way to school in the morning at around 7:10 a.m. and was around a mile away from the school when the incident occurred. A utility employee was on his way to work when he came across the girl. The girl told the man who found her that she was a victim of rape. A 20-year-old man was placed under arrest later that night.

There are a great number of consequences when there is a conviction on charges of sexual assault and abuse of a child. Not only might there be a jail sentence, hefty fines and more, there will also be the public stigma from a conviction on these types of charges. This can lead to a problem for the rest of one's life even after the sentence has been served. Because of that, having a competent legal defense is key.

In this case, a young girl who was on her way to school alleges that a man hit her with his vehicle and proceeded to rape her. Although these charges will elicit immediate anger, that does not mean that the man is automatically guilty. In order to avoid a prison sentence and other penalties, a defendant in his position would be well-advised to formulate a defense with help from an attorney.
